The battle for the top four gets intense starting with the north London derby, while Swansea City will look to keep up their impressive home form.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal
Date: 10/2/18
Time: 1:30pm
Venue: Wembley Stadium
The north London derby is upon us once again and it takes place for the first time at the Wembley Stadium. Hosts Tottenham Hotspur are in fifth-place a spot above their visitors, and could capitalise on any further slipups in front of them.
Both teams are strengthened by new signings in the January transfer window; Lucas Moura for Spurs, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the Gunners, though Petr Cech will likely miss out on account of the injury sustained on Sunday. Given Harry Kane’s 100th Premier League goal at the weekend, we can expect the prolific forward to lead his team to a comfortable win.
Prediction: 3-1
Everton vs. Crystal Palace
Date: 10/2/18
Time: 4:00pm
Venue: Goodison Park
Everton and Crystal Palace meet in a potentially explosive clash at Goodison Park. The game sees two individuals of interest; Sam Allardyce and Yannick Bolasie facing their former employers and they will be eager to earn a win on home turf.
The Eagles’ are without a win in their last three games, and with main attacking threat Wilfred Zaha reportedly out for four weeks, side lined alongside Bakary Sako, we expect Crystal Palace’s recent struggles to continue and tip Everton for a home win.
Prediction: 2-1
Swansea City vs. Burnley
Date: 10/2/18
Time: 4:00pm
Venue: Liberty Stadium
Swansea City could pull further clear of the drop zone with a big performance against seventh-place Burnley, a team 10 spot above Carlos Carvalhal’s side. The Swans are unbeaten in their last four successive games; winning back-to-back home matches against heavyweights Liverpool and Arsenal.
Burnley are experiencing a challenging period, failing to win in their last seven games, and despite earning an impressive home draw against Manchester City at the weekend, Swansea are favoured for the win on account of their recent momentum.
Prediction: 2-0
West Ham United vs. Watford
Date: 10/2/18
Time: 4:00pm
Venue: London Stadium
A resurgent Watford team travel to West Ham in a match involving two teams separated by three points and a spot on the standings.
In last season’s fixture on this ground, Watford emerged victorious and we can expect a repeat of that outcome. The Hornets were simply electric in their big win against Chelsea, and we expect them to sustain their winning momentum against an inconsistent West Ham team who are appear to be struggling to put out their best starting lineup and formation.
Prediction: 1-3
Manchester City vs. Leicester City
Date: 10/2/18
Time: 6:30pm
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Kelechi Iheanacho makes a return to the Etihad Stadium with Leicester City for an exciting clash against leaders Manchester City. The Citizens have looked vulnerable at the back in recent outings, and with a growing number of injury concerns, UEFA Champions League and other cup commitments, Pep Guardiola might need to reshuffle his squad to keep them fresh.
Leicester on their part, are quite an unpredictable team, who should be closely watched. Though, still without want-away star man, Riyad Mahrez, the availability of Jamie Vardy, Fousseni Diabate, and Iheanacho could force a cautious Manchester City to a nervy and narrow win.
Prediction: 2-0
Newcastle United vs. Manchester United
Date: 11/2/18
Time: 3:15pm
Venue: Saint James Park
Manchester United will hope to close the 13 point gap at the top or at the very least maintain the deficit between themselves and their City rivals when they face Newcastle United.
Despite Jose Mourinho admitting the title was lost to Manchester City, knowing the antecedents of the Portuguese manager, we can expect him to do everything within his prowess to earn a victory against bitter rival, Rafael Benitez.
Prediction: 0-2
Southampton vs. Liverpool
Date: 11/2/18
Time: 5:30pm
Venue: Saint Mary’s Stadium
Liverpool are away to Southampton in what should be a truly emotional comeback for Virgil van Dijk at the Saint Mary’s Stadium. Games between the pair over the years have been highly entertaining and we can expect same from this fixture.
The Saints despite parading a talented squad are battling with relegation, rooted in 15th-place. They will find it difficult earning a win against a Liverpool team gunning to maintain their top four place and backed by record breaking Mohamed Salah.
Prediction: 2-2
Chelsea vs. West Brom
Date: 12/2/18
Time: 9:00pm
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Antonio Conte’s future at Chelsea could be decided with a home fixture against West Brom in Monday night’s fixture. The Blues’ are on the back of successive humiliating losses, conceding seven goals in that period, and must avoid dropping points against a Baggies team who cost both Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto Di Matteo their jobs following wins against the champions.
Olivier Giroud should be available for a start in the likely absence of the side lined Alvaro Morata, while Daniel Sturridge on loan from Liverpool could hurt former employers Chelsea no thanks to a shaky Blues back line.
Prediction: 2-1
